Ontario's police watchdog is in the process of investigating a three-vehicle crash in Brampton that involved a Peel Regional Police cruiser.
The collision took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening near the intersection of Main and English streets.
Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was on the scene Thursday morning to investigate what happened, re-opening the road at about 7:15 a.m. after gathering evidence.
SIU spokesperson Jason Gennaro told CBC Toronto that the crash sent one male officer and one 17-year-old female driver to hospital with what he described as "serious injuries." Both have since been treated and released.

"The Special Investigations Unit is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have any video evidence of the incident to contact our lead investigator," said Gennaro.
The SIU is an arm's-length agency that investigates any interactions between the public and police that result in death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
