Swastika spray-painted on Dartmouth car prompts police investigation

Halifax Regional Police are investigating after a swastika was spray painted on a car parked in the driveway of a Dartmouth home Thursday night, vandalism they say may be motivated by hate.

Halifax Regional Police are investigatingafter a swastika was spray-painted on a car parked in the driveway of a Dartmouth home Thursday night, vandalism they say may be motivated by hate.

Police say officers were called at 9:15 p.m. toa home on Lahey Roadafter a witnesssaw a man smashing thecar's windows.The witnesstold police the man then ran toa vehicle parked on Victoria Road and took off.

Police saythe damaged car had itswindows and headlights smashed, andthe tires were slashed.

Police say the suspect is a white manwith a skinny build andeither 19 or 20 years old. He was wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt, baggy bluejean shorts and a red ball cap.

A description of the vehicle the suspect left in was not provided, police say.
