Lennoxville's Centennial Theatre cancels 2016-2017 season

There will be no 2016-2017 season for Lennoxville's Centennial Theatre.

The theatre is owned by Bishop's University. On Monday, aspokesman for the university said it was unable to find $150,000 in external funding to support the costs of programming.

In a statement, the university's executive committeesaidtheinstitution's"serious" financial situation has forced it to make the decisionaspart of an effort to balance its budget.

"It is with great regret that we came to this decision," said Miles Turnbull, Bishop'svice-principal ofacademics.

Centennial will remain open for student performances and be available for rent.
