More questions than answers in 'suspicious' death of Marrisa Shen

Two days after 13-year-old MarrisaShen's body was found in Burnaby's Central Park, police continue to appeal for informationwhile revealing littleabout the circumstances of her death.

"Her death is still deemed suspicious and we're waiting for an autopsy to learn whether or not she is truly a victim of homicide," said Cpl.MeghanFoster of the Integrated Homicide Investigations Team on Thursday morning.

"Currently, we do not have any suspects."

According to Foster, investigators have narrowed down the timeline around Shen's activities leading up to the discovery of her body. She was last seen leaving her home in the Central Park area at 6 p.m. PT, Tuesday evening.

"That's the last time we know she was alive," said Foster.

Shen's body was found in brush in thesoutheast corner ofCentral Park seven hours later, around 1:10 a.m. Wednesday.

The investigation is trying to determine if she died in a different location before her body was moved to the park.

"We're gathering the evidence to put that theory together and we're relying on people who have information, or who may have seen MsShen, to contact us so we can fill in those blanks," said Foster.

"We've received multiple tips and those will be reviewed and followed up on accordingly."

Shenis known to have usedher phone at 5 p.m. on July 18 but Foster declined to give any details of who she spoke with.

"The facts of who she spoke with right now are not something the public needs to be aware of," said Foster. "

Police are asking the public to remain vigilant and continue tocanvassthe neighbourhood.
