#BookTok is ready to take things offline

Book lovers have created a vibrant community on TikTok, and now the owner of the social media platform is getting into the publishing business. Author Jael Richardson talks about the tech giant's reported approach so far, and digs into how #BookTok has upended the publishing industry.

Book lovers have created a vibrant community on TikTok, affectionaly known and hashtaged by users as #BookTok.

#BookTok has been driving book sales in unprecedented numbers since lockdown in 2020, making household names out of authors like Colleen Hoover,Sarah J. Maas and Madeline Miller.

Now, the owner of the social media platform is getting into the publishing business. Author Jael Richardson stops by Commotion to talk about the tech giant'sreported approach so far, andhow #BookTok continues to upendthe publishing industry.
