An avalanche has claimed a life in the northwestern corner of B.C.
Coroner Barb McLintock says the avalanche swept down on two people from an industrial camp in a remote area around Stewart, near the B.C.-Alaska border. One of the two workers was killed but McLintock says there are few other details and a coroner from Terrace is now investigating.

Kamloops RCMP say a 16 year old boy may be charged following a standoff last night in Sahali. Police say the boy threatened his mother and then locked himself inside their home, possibly with a weapon. No one was hurt but police had to forcefully remove him from the house.

Opponents of two oil-pipeline projects are taking their grievances to the offices of the province's M.L.A's today. The rallies are part of the Defend Our Coast day of action. They are meant to raise concerns in at least 62 communities about plans by Enbridge Inc. and Kinder Morgan Inc. to build oil pipelines.
