B.C. Liberals kick off convention in Whistler

More than a thousand B.C. Liberals are descending on Whistler today. Their pre-election convention begins this morning with the party calling it "Free Enterprise Friday"  The Liberals continue to trail in the polls so this convention is one final chance for Premier Christy Clark to rally her party ahead of May's vote.

It's becoming somewhat of a trend in Logan Lake. The emergency room at the Logan Lake Health Centre is closed again today, just one week after its last closure. And Interior health says next Friday it will be closed again because of limited physician availability.

Opening arguments begin today in Kelowna in the trial of a teen accused of killing Ashlee Hyatt. The 16-year-old died two years ago after she was stabbed to death at a Peachland house party.  The 18-year-old accused in this case can not be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She has spent the past two years under 24-hour house arrest at her parent's home.

The Minister Responsible for Liquor Licensing says a law that bans charities from auctioning donated wine or spirits at fundraising events will be changed. Rich Coleman says the rule isn't needed and he's promising to fix the problem. The law recently forced the Belfry Theatre company in Victoria to cancel a fundraiser they say would have brought in $20,000.
