Changes to MP pensions coming

dougnews thumbnail.jpg
A surprise development in the House of Commons this morning. Changes to MP pensions have been split off from the main budget bill and passed unanimously. Opposition politicians had signalled yesterday that they were willing to fasttrack the changes to their own pensions.
But the government wasn't on board until this morning. Starting after the next federal election, M-Ps will pay into their pension plans on a 50-50 basis.

Candlelight vigils in memory of Amanda Todd will take place around the world today. Coquitlam, Vancouver, and Surrey are just a few of the cities hosting.

Archeologists say an ancient village along B.C.'s Babine River may be 1300 years old. The Babine Lake First Nation knew their ancestors' village was there, but until 2010 archeologists hadn't searched the site. A crew from the  University of Northern British Columbia returned this year to excavate a home.
