Despite complaints by all opposition parties, the Harper government is moving to fast track its 433-page omnibus budget implementation bill. The federal government has moved to limit the amount of time the bill can be debated. The N.D.P is asking that the bill be split into 12 chunks. The government is allowing some committee examination of parts of the bill.

B.C. Housing says it is implementing recommendations from an internal audit of its corporate credit card use. The audit was published by the Province newspaper. It points out staff at the public agency increased the amount they charged on their purchasing cards by nearly 50 per cent in a two year period. Staff charged 2.5 million dollars in 2011. The agency is responsible for housing some of the province's poorest citizens.

In a Supreme Court of Canada decision handed down this morning, the federal government will be allowed to appeal the striking down of laws banning brothels. The Supreme Court of Canada says Terri Jean Bedford will also be allowed to cross-appeal in the case. In the meantime, Canada's prostitution laws will still be in force.
