Lack of policy debate puts democracy in danger, say pundits

The federal government has a introduced a second massive omnibus bill.

Meanwhile, provincially, Premier Christy Clark has cancelled the fall sitting, and the legislature won't sit until some time next year.
   
So in B.C. right now, our two largest levels of government aren't debating much policy at the moment, and some pundits say democracy is in danger.

For his thoughts, we've reached Derek Cook, who teaches Canadian government and politics at Thompson Rivers University.

But Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Cathy McLeod disagrees.

Though the federal government has introduced another large omnibus bill -- at 443 pages, the  bill contains legislation on everything from lakes and rivers to the Indian Act.

But McLeod says it's not undemocratic.
