Trick or treaters will be out in droves Wednesday night and the Kamloops RCMP will be as well. In fact they will have double the amount of officers on the street to deal with Halloween calls. An RCMP helicopter will also be in use after 8 PM when the bulk of calls are expected. Staff Sergeant Grant Learned says police will be taking a zero tolerance approach when dealing with drunk and disorderly conduct.

The Cohen Report on Missing Salmon will be released at 1230 Wednesday. B.C. Supreme Court Justice Bruce Cohen started an inquiry in 2010. His goal was to determine why 8.5 milllon Fraser river sockeye salmon failed to show up as expected in 2009. Biologist Otto Langer worked for D.F.O. for 32 years. He says much of the blame can be laid at the feet of the people managing the resource.

The Federal Government is investigating temporary foreign worker permits for a coal mine in northeastern B.C. The company HD Mining has obtained permits for 201 workers from China to work at its mine near Tumbler Ridge. Alyson Queen is a spokesperson for the Ministry of Human Resources and Skills Development. She says the Government is very concerned about this case, and is looking into whether the rules were followed. HD Mining says temporary foreign workers were required because there are no workers in Canada qualified to do long-wall mining in their underground coal mine.
