ICBC to cut 250 management jobs

The Insurance Corporation of B.C. will cut 250 management jobs. That includes 7 executive positions. The corporation says the reductions go beyond recommendations in a government review to bring staffing below 2008 levels. The reduction will save I.C.B.C. as much as 29 million dollars a year.

Fire levels closed mill in Cranbrook
A large fire leveled the shuttered Tembec planer mill in Cranbrook. Flames broke out just before 9 Thursday night and firefighters could do little but surround the fire to keep it from spreading to other buildings. The facility has been closed since 2007.

No charges in Nanaimo hockey case
Charges will not be laid against a 14 year old hockey player from Nanaimo, who was under investigation for delivering a bodycheck in a Bantam league game. RCMP say the September incident left another 14 year old player from Saanich with serious internal injuries. Police say after talking to witnesses and reviewing videotape, investigators have concluded there was no criminality involved.

Kamloops Blazers win streak over
All good things must come to an end. The Kamloops Blazers franchise record win streak ended Thursday night. After 14 straight wins the Blazers were beat 3-0 by the Kelowna Rockets.
