Fried Squirrels and Beaver Tales

Hazel Tubrett lived in Labrador for ten years.  During that decade, she heard her former father-in-law tell many tales...stories of his childhood on the Labrador coast. How people lived, what they ate...how they survived.

Hazel never forgot those stories.  And when she eventually met her partner Dan Stanford, a trapper, she put some of them to good use.  In the kitchen.

In their cabin in central Newfoundland, there's always a pot on the stove...brimming with something delicious, and mysterious.  Everything from squirrels, to bear soup, to beaver, to bear fat french fries...all culinary treats from the Labrador coast. Almost everything Dan Stanford traps ultimately ends up on Hazel Tubrett's supper table.
