Young stars discuss their adaptation of the hit YA sci-fi novel series

Divergent, the latest science fiction-inspired teen series coming in the footsteps of the blockbuster The Hunger Games, hits theatres this week.

Based on the bestselling dystopian young adult novel trilogy by author Veronica Roth, Divergent revolves around a young heroine (actress Shailene Woodley of The Descendants and The Spectacular Now) named Beatrice (Tris) Prior, who doesn't quite fit into her world a distant future where society is divided into different factions based on personality types.

A mysterious mentor named Tobias (Four) Eaton (played by Theo James) helps guide the extraordinary Tris.

The cast also includes Oscar-winner Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney and Zoe Kravitz.

Directed by Neil Burger, Divergent will be followed by Insurgent and Allegiant, adaptations of the second and third tales in the book trilogy.

Woodley and James recently stopped in Toronto for an advance screening for fans and, in the attached video, they talk to CBC's Eli Glasner about what factions they would fit into, the film's physical scenes and the surprising inspiration for one particular moment.
