Adele's vocal troubles have persisted, with the acclaimed British singer now set to undergo throat surgery.

The young singer-songwriter known for hit songsRolling in the Deep, Someone Like You and Chasing Pavements will have surgery "to alleviate the current issues with her throat," Columbia Records said in a statement Friday.

Because of the surgery, all Adele's tour dates and promotional appearances for the rest of 2011 have been cancelled.

Doctors have ordered the singer to rest her voice and "completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments."

The year has been filled with both highs and lows for the 23-year-old Adele. Though she added MTV, Mobo and other music world trophies to her list of accolades andset chart-topping records with her latest album21, she has also battled issues with her voice.

In June, shecancelled nine North American concertsdue to laryngitis. In September, a chest infection forced cancellations in the U.K. and, earlier in October, shecalled off her 10-city U.S. tourafter suffering a vocal cord hemorrhage.

The singer previously said that her relentless touring schedule has left her voice weak and that she must rest or risk permanent damage.
