Elizabeth Taylor's van Gogh, other artwork set for sale

Following the blockbuster sale of her jewelry and memorabilia in December, Elizabeth Taylor's personal art collection is now set to cross the auction block.

Christie's announced that 38 pieces of art that once belonged to the screen siren will join its upcoming sale of impressionist and modern art in London on Feb. 7 and 8.

Notable lots include Vincent van Gogh's fall landscape Vue de l'Asile et de la Chapelle de Saint-Rmy, which is estimated to sell for between5 million to7 million (about $7.8 million Cdn to $10.9 million Cdn).

Francis Taylor, her art dealer father, purchased the canvas on behalf of the actress at a Sotheby's auction in London in 1963,for about92,000 (nearly $143,500 Cdn). The painting was also subject to a restitution claim, though a U.S. appeals court rejected the suit in 2007.

Taylor's collectionwhich focused on 19th and 20th century art also includes work by Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro and Auguste Renoir.

Proceeds of the sale will go to the Elizabeth Taylor Trust, which manages her estate.

In December, Christie's New York hosted an extended,record-setting auctionthat ultimately saw nearly $157 million US in sales for Taylor's belovedjewelry, her clothing and costumes, accessories and movie memorabilia. The auction drew intense interest from bidders around the globe and every single lot sold, with many selling for multiple times the pre-sale estimates.
