Montie Brewer appointed CEO of Air Canada

Montie Brewer has been appointed president and CEO of Air Canada, the airline announced Wednesday.

Robert Milton remains CEO of Air Canada's parent company, ACE Aviation Holdings. He also remains chairman of Air Canada.

Brewer had been Air Canada's executive vice president, commercial a position that included responsibility for Air Canada Jazz, Air Canada Jetz, Air Canada Vacations, and the strategic direction of network planning, marketing and scheduling.

Brewer has extensive background in the airline industry. Before joining Air Canada in 2002, he held executive positions at United Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Republic Airlines, Braniff and Trans World Airlines.

"Montie is a true industry visionary who joined Air Canada primarily because he wanted to be part of an airline willing to change," Milton said in a statement.

"His accomplishments during his time at Air Canada are impressive; in particular, he was chief architect and led the implementation of Air Canada's new business model including the airline's successful simplified fare structure."

Claude Morin was appointed president and CEO of Air Canada Cargo and Bradley Moore was given the nod to assume the top job at Air Canada Ground Handling Services.

Air Canada Cargo and Air Canada Ground Handling Services were created on Sept. 30 as part of the Air Canada restructuring. They are separate limited partnerships that, along with Air Canada, make up ACE Aviation Holdings.
