B.C. talent takes home 2 Grammys

British Columbiatalent was recognized withtwo Grammy Awards on Sunday evening at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

Canadian violinist James Ehnes won Canada's first Grammy of the night for best instrumental solo performance (with orchestra) for his recording with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra called Barber/Korngold/Walton: Violin Concertos.

Denise Ball produced thealbum with sound engineer Don Harder for CBC Records, and many of the members of the CBC Radio Orchestra, based in Vancouver, also performed on the recording. The award was a first forCBC inBritish Columbia.

The CD has been highly-acclaimed by critics andthe Grammy is the second award it's won.The first was a Western Canadian Music Award.It is also nominated for a Juno.

Burnaby's Michael Bubl took home best traditional pop vocal album with Call Me Irresponsible.
