Burnaby firefighters made quick work of the flames, which were spreading from debris to the bushes

Firefighters in Burnaby, B.C.,made quick work of a small brush fire, early Friday morning near the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Gaglardi Way.

The firefighters found what appears to be a homeless camp was the source of the fire, though any occupants had left before crews arrived to douse the flames a little before 3 a.m.

Firefighters said there didn't appear to be a bonfire pit at the site, and it's likely a candle or cigarette sparked the fire.

The areaaround the campsite was strewn with garbage and debris, some of which fuelled the fire before crews were able put it out.
