Buses in the Central Okanagan will resume regular service on Thursday after transit workers voted in favour of a new three year contract, ending a two-week strike.

Workers voted approximately 60 per cent in favour of the contract with Canada First, the company that operates the Kelowna Regional Transit System.

The contract puts an end to the labour dispute that halted service for two weeks in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachlandand Lake Country.

"We're so pleased and we're so relieved to learn that our employees are going back to work," said First Canada spokeswoman Maribeth Burton.

"We know transit's been desperately missed in the regional districts of Kelowna and we can't wait to be back on the road."

Buses will be operating at 6 am PT Thursday morning on regularly scheduled routes, said Burton.
