B.C. Conservatives name Dan Brooks as new party leader

Dan Brooks has returned to the helm of the B.C. Conservatives. He won a leadership race in Prince George on Saturday with 52.1 per cent of the vote, narrowly edging out Konrad Pimiskern on a second ballot.

Dan Brooks has returned to the helm of the B.C. Conservatives.

He won the party'sleadership race in Prince George on Saturday with 52.1 per cent of the vote, narrowly edging out KonradPimiskern on a second ballot.

Brooks had been leader since 2014, but stepped down earlier this year.

"You don't get second chances in politics very often and I certainly never imagined that I would get a second chance and Iam very deeply humbled to be trusted with this responsibility a second time and I come into this position with open eyes," he said after his victory.

Brooks is fromVanderhoof, anentrepreneur and supports pipeline projects and the development of oil exports to China.

The party last won a seat in the legislature in 1975.
