The parents of young Burnaby man who went missing a year ago are offering a $100,000 reward for anyone who leads investigators directly to their son's remains.

Kellen McElwee's mother Paula said it's been a gut-wrenching year since her son, 25, disappeared after leaving the Keg restaurant in Langley, B.C.,in March 2008.

His silver Honda Civic was later found near his Burnaby apartment, but he was never seen again.

"I live with one foot in hope and the other in absolute fear," an emotional Paula McElwee said at press conference on Monday morning in Langley.

"Somebody out there has the information that we need, and I personally am desperate. I'm stuck in the year 2008, March the 19th," she said.

Corporal Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said the investigation hasturned up few clues. Police believe McElwee is likely dead.

"It's the belief of investigators that Kellen has met with foul play," said Carr on Monday. "We've discussed that with the McElwee family."

"We are in a position where we don't have a sondon't know where that son is, so that we can bury him," she said.

The family initially offered a $50,000 reward last year, shortly after Kellen went missing, but received no information.

Now they are hoping that by doubling the reward, they will encourage someone to come forward with information.
