Police at UBC are seeking information in an attempt to identify a male suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a 19-year-old female student early Saturday morning.

The woman was walking alone in the 6300 block of Biological Sciences Road at about 2:45 a.m. when an unknown male wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants approached her from behind.

The man then lifted the woman by her waist and carried her to a garden area while forcing his hand up her skirt.

The attacker fled on foot after the woman managed to wrestle free of him and yell for help.

University RCMP say it is an isolated incident and the woman did not need medical attention.

Police describe the attacker as:

  • Mid to late 20's with an unshaven face
  • Approximately 5'8'' tall
  • Thin build

Anyone with information that might help identify the suspect is asked to call University RCMP at 604-224-1322 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPSUBC.
