1 person seriously injured in downtown Vancouver shooting: police

Police say a shooting in downtown Vancouver left one person seriously injured on Wednesday night.

Shooting happened just 4 days after evening gunfire on busy Robson Street

Police say a shooting in downtown Vancouverleft one person seriously injured on Wednesday night.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD)said in a statement that officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Homer Street and West Pender Street around 7:50 p.m. PT.

They say they found a 46-year-old man with non-life-threateninginjuries, who was taken to hospital.

VPD Sgt. Steve Addison said around 9 p.m. Wednesdaythat police were likely to remain in the area for several hours, which may disrupt traffic. A CBC News reporter who was on the scene saw a large police cordon that extended for several blocks around the site of the shooting.

No arrests have yet been made, and police are askinganyone with information to contact them.

Const. Tania Visitin said investigators have no reason to believe the shooting is tied to the B.C. gang conflict or any other incidents.

Wednesday's shootingcomes after another on Robson Street on Saturday evening, which police say was targeted.

Bystander video of the Robson Street shooting appeared to show suspects taking several shots at a vehicle and then running into an alley.
