Homicide team seeking witnesses, video to identify body found on Mission, B.C., property

The discovery of a body in the aftermath of a fire in Mission this weekend has prompted a homicide and arson investigation, according to police.

In a tweet on Monday, the RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said police were called to a property in the 30800-block of GunnAvenue Saturday after a body was found inside.

The tweet said the firebegan at 2a.m. Saturday on the Mission property.

The circumstances surrounding the fire and the discovery of the body are considered to be suspicious, according to a news release issuedMonday.

In therelease, Sgt. Frank Jangof the homicide investigation team asked witnesses and drivers to come forward with dashcamfootage that mayassist in identifying the victim.

Homicide investigators are working with the Mission RCMP and Integrated Forensic Identification Services as the investigation continues.

The police statement says aninvestigation by the B.C. Coroners Office is also underway to determine identificationandcause of death.
