Kelowna residents will now have to be more mindful of what days they turn on their sprinklers, ascity council has brought in newyear-round watering rules.

People will no longer be able to water their lawns on Mondays, and for the rest of the week people can water lawns on alternating days.

Properties with odd numbered addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Those with even numbered addresses can water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Kevin Van Vliet, utility services manager with the city of Kelowna, says people will think twice before using their sprinklers.

"Instead of just watering whenever they want, actually start to think about when they water and start to think about if they should water."

For the moment the new rules apply to over half of the city'spopulation those who get their water from The City of KelownaWater Utility. Thecityanticipates, however, that thefour other water providers will soon implement the same restrictions.
