Lighthouse Park cliff fall sees woman rescued by hovercraft

A woman was rescued by hovercraft after falling 10 metres down a cliff at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver on Friday.

A 22 year-oldwoman was rescued by hovercraft after falling 10 metres from a cliffat Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver on Friday.

Shesustained two broken teeth and an injury to one of her arms, butis in a stable condition at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver.

The woman, whose name has not been released,had takenadvantage of the sunny day to go for a hike atthe popular West Vancouver parkwith fivefriends, all from Surrey, B.C.

Her friends say they heard her fall just after she broke ahead of the group. Luckily, they said,a paramedic had been hiking nearby.

The paramedic called for help, then ventured down the cliff to find the woman. She was conscious when he got there and administered first aidimmediately.

West Vancouver Assistant Fire Chief Martin Leduc said ahovercraft was dispatched to attend to the young womanand take her to a nearby beach, from where she was then taken to hospital.
