Chilliwack, Mission, Hope public schools remain closed Friday

Public schools in Mission,Chilliwack and the Fraser-Cascadeschool districtsremain closed today.

"There were significant amounts of freezing rain that fell overnight creating icy conditions throughoutChilliwack and continuing to cause unsafe condition at our schools," reads an alert on the Chilliwackdistrict'swebsite.

The Mission district saysthere are "many safety concerns at and around the schools."

On Vancouver Island, the Campbell River school district is also closed.

Other schools thatshut down for Friday:

• The Westside Schools (Vancouver)
• La Verendyre Elementary (Chilliwack)
