Search for Terrace mushroom pickers called off by RCMP

The official search for two missing mushroom pickers near Terrace, B.C. has been called off by the RCMP after efforts failed to find any trace of the two men.

Ike Murray, 26, and Michael Sabo, 32, have been missing since Sept. 22

The official search for two missing mushroom pickers near Terrace, B.C. has been called off by the RCMP.

Ike Murray, 26, and Michael Sabo, 32, went missing over a week ago while foraging for wild mushrooms in a remote area north of the Skeen River that is accessible only by boat.

About 150 volunteers have been assisting in the search, but officials say they've failed to find any clues to the men's whereabouts despite a relatively small search area.

"Not a trace, nothing," says Dave Jephson, search manager with Terrace Search and Rescue.

"Nothing that belonged to the two individuals at all was located."

Now that the officials search is over, Jephson says the RCMP will decide what to do next.

He says that some volunteers want to continue looking, so police may call on them if the search area is extended.
