Hiker missing in B.C. while filming documentary

Mounties in New Hazelton, B.C., say a 26-year-old Ohio man has disappeared while filming a documentary in the area.

Police say Warren Andrew Sill's blue Pontiac Torrent SUV was found abandoned at Gull Creek on July 10. Police say the car had been parked at the entrance to the Whiskey Creek Trail since July 5.

Sill's family says he was making a documentary on the Spirit Bear, and they had last spoken to him on July 4.

Sill told family and friends he would be exploring the area for four or five days, but police say he is not a seasoned hiker, so search and rescue crews were called in.

Search and rescue, RCMP police dog services, an ATV, a helicopter and a number of volunteers are searching the area, which police describe as dense and challenging.

"Our search for Andrew Sill continues as we try to cover as much ground as possible, including an aerial search with the assistance of a helicopter," said RCMP Const. Lesley Smith.

"The fact that this young man is not an avid hiker and he is not familiar with this terrain is very concerning."

Sill is described as a white male, about five feet ten inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds. He has a medium build and short dirty blond hair.
