Fallen Squamish hiker identified

The B.C. Coroners Service has identified the woman who died after falling at the Stawamus Chief in Squamish last week.

The B.C. Coroners Servicehas identified the woman who fell to her death off the Stawamus Chief in Squamish last week.

Gabriole VanKeith, 57, of Vancouver washiking alone on Black Dyke trail when she fell on Aug. 4.

Hikers at the park witnessed the fall and called 911. Search and rescue workers arrived on the scene within 30 minutes, but VanKeith was found dead at the scene.

VanKeith did not have identification on her, but was eventually identified through information gathered after her vehicle was located nearby.

The B.C. Coroners Service is continuing its investigation.
