Suspect charged in Vancouver's 1st homicide of 2024, police say

Dwight William Kematch has been charged with second-degree murderand remains in custody, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

A suspecthas been charged in Vancouver's first homicide of the year, police said Monday.

A statement from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD)issued Sunday said officers were called to a home near East 33rd Avenue and Knight Street just after 1 a.m. PT and found a man dead inside.

Police said they arrested a 39-year-old man at the scene.

On Monday, police said Dwight William Kematch has been charged with second-degree murderand remains in custody.

Police identified the victim as 31-year-old Alexander Lo of Vancouver.

The VPD said the ongoing investigationis being led by itshomicide unit.
