Here are some of the most memorable quotes from thedebate.

Brian Jean

  • "If I was elected as Wildrose leader, I would immediately enter into a contract between myself and the Wildrose party for $100,000 in liquidated damages if I crossed the floor."
  • "The Wildrose isthe only thing standing between Albertans and a very huge tax increase."

Linda Osinchuk

  • "Alberta politics and government need a good cleansing, like a colonoscopy."
  • "We should be looking at selling bonds, Alberta bonds. And we can actuallyuse this to create revenue."
  • "It's about moving from fakers and takers to the makers, and I want to be there."

Drew Barnes

  • "The PC government of Alberta has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. We have the highest per capita spending in all of Canada. We have the most expensive government. Jim Prentice and the PCs do not need another dime of our money."
  • "I think the Wildrose should have a discussion amongour members about leading by example and that leading being: not to accept a floor-crosser."

Corrections

  • An earlier version of this story incorrectly said Jean proposed a $100,000 deposit. In fact he said he would contract to pay $100,000 in liquidated damages if he crossed the floor.
