18-year-old charged in death of Levi Marance

A second personhas been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Levi Maranceat a northwest Calgary apartment complex.

Police were called about astabbing in an apartment building at Northmount Drive and19th Street N.W. at about 1:30 a.m. MT Sunday.

When officers arrived they found a seriously injured 18-year-old.Marance, who is from Red Deer,wastaken to hospital with critical injuries and later died.

Two males, aged 17 and 18, arecharged with second-degree murder.

The organization that owns and runs the complex, McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association, issued a release Mondaycalling the incident tragic. The victimand the accusedwereguests of a resident, according to the organization.

The building offers affordable housing to the public andis an independent living facility for 18- to 24-year-olds.
