Calgary woman charged for online threat to 'shoot a public place'

Calgary police have charged a woman for threats made on social media last week.

On March 7, a message was postedon Facebook about wanting to "shoot a public place," without specifying when or where.

The threatspread online and resulted in Cochrane RCMP issuing a news release saying they were investigating the post and were in touch with area schools.

The investigation was eventually passed on to Calgary police, who said there was no threat to the public at the time.

CBCNews has decided not to name the woman based on that threat assessment.

The 34-year-old has been charged with one count of public mischief and has been taken into custody.
