22 overdoses reported on Blood Tribe reserve in 48 hours

Nine people overdosed on Tuesday, followed by another 10 on Wednesday and three on Thursday.

A rash of overdoses on the Blood Tribe Reserve in southwestern Alberta has prompted a warning from the chief and council.

A total of 22 overdoses were reportedbetween Tuesday and Thursday, including one death.

Nine people overdosed on Tuesday, followed by another 10 on Wednesday and three on Thursday.

A notice from the council says they believe carfentanil is to blame.

The notice, posted to social media, says between six and eight vials of Naloxone were used to revive each person who had overdosed.

There have been 39 overdoses reported on the Blood Tribe so far in the month of November.

The council is asking everyone on the reserve to be vigilant and report drug dealers to the Blood Tribe Police at 403-737-3800.
