The Calgary Fire Department has lifted the boating advisory on the Bow River just in time for what's expected to be a nice weekend.

"The flow rate has stabilized below the 280 [cubic metres per second]trigger point and river conditions have improved," the department said in a release Friday."At this level, people can resume normal activities on the river."

The river's flow ratewas hovering around300 cubic metres per second just days ago, which the fire department says can present"challenges for river users."

Calgarians are reminded to use caution, always wear a life-jacket and not drink alcohol which can snag a ticket from river patrols.

Harvie Passage, a water park for paddlers, remains closed as the province continues to restore the area after the 2013 flood.

Environment Canada is calling for a sunny weekend in Calgary after several days of rain.

The river advisory was put in place on Monday, due to the high river flow and cold water, but has been lifted in time for those looking to hit the Bow this weekend. (Environment Canada)
