Bowden man arrested following chase that ended with fiery crash

A 35-year-old man from Bowden is in custody following a brief car chase that ended in a fiery crash with a train.

A 35-year-old Bowden manis in custody following a brief car chase that ended in a fiery collision with a train.

Innisfail RCMPresponded to reports of a domestic assault in Penholdaround 7:15 p.m. on Friday and found a man on scene brandishing a knife.

The suspect jumped in a car and fled, with RCMP giving chase.

The pursuit didn't last long, with the suspect making a sudden sharpturn off the highway into a CP train. There was a small fire as a result of the crash, but police pulled the suspect from the car and the fire was extinguished.

According to the RCMP, the suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital. He has been arrested and charges are pending.
