Two men in their 20s are dead following an early Sunday morning car crash at the intersection of John Laurie and Sarcee Trail northwest.

Police believe alcohol and high speed was a factor in the accident.

At roughly 1:30 a.m., police say a Dodge Caliber carrying three men was speeding northbound on Sarcee Trail when it failed to stop for a red light at John Laurie Boulevard and was struck in the intersection by a westbound Honda Ridgeline truck.

The collision caused the Dodge to lose control androll several times before coming to rest.

A 20-year-old man was pronounced dead after being ejected from the front passenger seat and taken to hospital in critical life-threatening condition.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Dodgewas declared deceased at the scene.

A 19-year-old passenger sitting in the back received minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.

The 44-year-old male driver, and lone occupant, of the Honda Ridgeline was not injured.

No charges are anticipated at this time.
