Man who died after shooting at Douglasdale home didn't live there, police say

The man who was shot at a house in Douglasdalein southeast Calgary on Monday night didn't live there, police say, as they try to piece together an incident that also left two residents of the home in hospital.

Around 8 p.m, policeresponded to "numerous calls"of a disturbance and a possible home invasion at a home on Douglas Bank Way.

Officers found two people lying on the sidewalk a man suffering from a gunshot to the abdomenand a woman who was injured afterallegedly falling from a window while trying to leave the home during analtercation.

Calgary police Insp. Don Coleman says three people were taken to hospital a man who was shot and later died in hospital, and a man and a woman, who areresidents of the southeast Calgary home.

"The deceaseddid not live there and we're still trying to determine exactly what went on leading up to him entering the residence and once inside," Coleman said.

The two occupants of the home are still in hospital.

Coleman said police have attended that residence in the past and all three people police encounteredMondaynight are known to police for various reasons.

He says police have been receivingvarying degrees of co-operation from the couple.

"Part of the challenge with these investigations is trying to determine what part of that co-operation is truthful and what's not," Coleman said.

Policedon't believe this to be a random attack, Coleman said.

"We believe the deceased person showed up at that residence purposefully. He didn't just turn up at that residence out of the blue," he said

Coleman said police are currently unsure if they are still looking for other people of interest but will know more once they have a satisfactory accountof what actually happened.
