It seems Calgary-Foothills voters are a resilient bunch, coming out in relative droves for advancevoting in their third trip to the polls in less than a year.

They're voting in a byelection to fill the vacancy left by former premier Jim Prentice, who resigned suddenly the night his Progressive Conservatives went down to electoral defeat.

Unofficial numbers released by Alberta's chief electoral officer show 4,146 voters 12 per cent of the total electorateturned up at advancepolls held from Aug.26-29.

"We experienced a strong voter turnout at the advance polls," said a press release.

"In comparison, Calgary-Foothills electors cast 2,968 ballots at the October 2014 provincial byelection and cast 4,062 votes during the 2015 provincial general election."

The election takes place on Sept.3, with seven candidates vying for the seat.
