Calgary man claims he was attacked with crossbow in parkade

Calgary police are trying to figure out how a man wound up with an arrow through his neck and shoulder early this morning, but they now believe it was a targeted attack.

Calgary police are trying to figure out how a man wound up with an arrow through his neck and shoulder early this morning, but they now believe it was a targeted attack.

The man had claimed he was the victim of a random attack in an downtown underground parking garage. He told police he was shot with a crossbow.

Duty Insp.Michael Watterston says the man drove himself to the Sheldon M.Chumir Centre around 3 a.m. MT butwas taken by ambulance to Foothills Hospital,which specializes in trauma.

He isnow in stable condition.

Earlier, police closed off theundergroundparkadeof a condo buildingin the 800 block of FourthAvenueS.W. where the incident is believed to have occurred. The parkadeis now open to the residents.

"That will be part of the investigation for the investigators to try find CCTV cameras in the area where the incident happened," saidWatterston.

Investigators say the victim is co-operating but hasn't yet been able to provide many details.
