81-year-old man charged in C-Train sex assault

Calgary police have charged an 81-year-old man with sexual assault in connection with an incident on a C-Train earlier this month.

Awoman was on a northwest-bound trainon the afternoon of July 7 when she was approached by a man who sat near her and engaged her in conversation, police say.

It's believed the man touched the woman's arms before grabbing her "inappropriately."

She thenmoved to the other end of the C-Train car and the man got off the train at Dalhousie Station.

Surjit Singh Bajwa, 81, has been charged with one count of sexual assault.

Police shared a video of the suspect boarding the C-Train at Banff Trail Station and leaving it at Dalhousie, which generated tips from the public.

Investigators thanked the public and the media for their help with the case.
