Calgary RCMP seize large quantity of crystal meth, cash

Atrafficking investigation by Calgary RCMP and the organized crime team has led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and cash.

Police confiscated over a pound of crystal meth and approximately $120,000 in cash in northeast Calgary on Dec. 9.

Three people were arrested andare facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.

All three are scheduled to appear in Calgary provincial court on Dec.12.

"Crystal methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant that is smoked by a user. It has become more popular in Alberta where it is the next most prevalent street drug behind marijuana and cocaine," RCMP said in a statement.

According to police, the quantity of drugsseizedwas roughly5,000 individual doses.
