Drugs, cash and a baby seized by Calgary police in two raids

An infant was taken away and more than $90,000 worth of drugs seized in two separate raids by the strategic enforcement unit of the Calgary police.

An infant was taken away and more than $90,000 worth of drugs seized in two separate raids by the strategic enforcement unit of the Calgary police.

In all, three people have been charged, police said Wednesday.

In the first instance, police descended on a car for a traffic stop on Aug. 3. Inside was a man believed to be part of an ongoing investigation.

Police said they found 588 fentanyl pills valued at $11,760, 51 unknown pills and $2,620 in cash.

"Officers also apprehended an eight-week-old infant from the vehicle, after the vehicle was found to be contaminated with drugs in pill and powder form," readsthe police news release.

A 37-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, who have not been identified publicly,were both charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Search warrant

In what police say was a separate investigation, members of the strategic enforcement unitand the tactical unit executed a search warrant on a house on the 0- to 100-block of Coventry Circle N.E. on Aug. 9.

Police say one man was arrested after police found more than $80,000 worth of drugs inside.

According to the news release, police discovered:

  • 362.4 grams of heroin, with a street value of approximately $72,480.
  • 16.5 grams of crack cocaine, with a street value of approximately $1,650.
  • 24 grams of cocaine, with a street value of approximately $2,400.
  • 5.5 grams of methamphetamine, worth approximately $275.
  • 145.5 grams of marijuana, worth approximately $1,455.
  • 104.7 grams of cannabis oil, worth approximately $1,047.
  • 272 Percocetpills, worth approximately $1,360.
  • $6,900 in Canadian currency.

Justin Fink faces numerous trafficking charges and six counts of possession of property obtained by crime. He also had one outstanding warrant.
