Calgary will be transformed into a giant game of Snakes and Ladders asBeakerhead the annual mash-up ofart, science and engineering returns with five days of weird and wonderful exhibits.

We'll keep it short, since we also have a full write up of all the Beakerheadexhibits you can't miss.

But just to say, if a flamingserpent doesn't catch your fancy, not sure what will.

Eastside Studio Crawl

In the 14th annual Eastside Studio Crawl event around the neighbourhoods of Ramsay and Inglewood, there are more than 80 artists opening their studios to the community in five different locations.

The stops include Burns Visual Arts Society, Jeff De Boer Sculpture, Heritage Weavers & Spinners, Artpoint Gallery & Studios and Studio 4 Painters.

The event is open to everyone regardless of experience with visual arts. There will be hands-on demos and door prizes, as well as a chance to get to meet some of the city's most well-known artists.

Everything is free and runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Job loss, cancer, a failing marriage, there's plenty of drama to go around in this play.

Apple is on atthe West Village Theatre Thursday through to next Saturday.
