Environment Canada warns of damaging winds in Alberta

Environment Canada says winds may cause damage to buildings in some parts of Alberta Saturday.

In the Cardston, Fort Macleod, Magrath, Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek and Waterton Lakes areas, winds are expected to gust between 100 to 120 km/h, with some of that strength tapering off toward the evening.

Around Okotoks, High River and Claresholm, wind could reach up to 90 km/h Saturday afternoon and evening.

"Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage," Environment Canada said.

The Hinton and Grande Cache areas are under a snowfall warning, with total amounts near 15 cm expected.
