Woman pronounced dead at the scene of fourplex fire in Forest Lawn

One person has died in a house fire in Calgary's southeast Forest Lawn neighbourhood.

Crews kept fire from spreading beyond one room

A man died in a residential fire in southeast Calgary on Tuesday night. (David Bell/CBC)

One person has died in a house fire in Calgary's southeast Forest Lawn neighbourhood.

Firefighters were called to a fourplex on the 2600 block of 39th Street at about 10:10 p.m. Monday.

A fire was located in back bedroom on the upper floor of the building, and crews were able to get it under control quickly.

An unresponsive woman was found inside the room.

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Calgary police arson unit and fire investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.
