A Calgary mother accused of murdering her three-year-old son has been ordered to stand trial following a four-day preliminary inquiry.

Isaiah Zoue was found dead in his Ranchlands home home on Jan. 30, 2016 after police went to the house in the 400 block of Ranchlands Grove N.W. for a check-on-welfare call.

His mother,FatimBamba, 28, was taken to hospital in stable, non-life-threatening condition, but at the time, police wouldn't give details on her injuries for privacy reasons.

She was charged nine months after her son's death.

The purpose of a preliminary inquiry is to test the evidence ahead of a trial.

The evidence presented by prosecutor Mike Ewenson over the week is protected by a publication ban.

Provincial court Judge Joanne Durant ruled Bamba will face a judge and jury on a charge of second-degree murder.

Defence lawyer Susan Karpa did not argue against Bamba's committal.

A trial date will be set when the matter returns to court in October.
