Flood victims offered free acupuncture

Flood victims in Calgary and High River are being offered free acupuncture sessions to help them deal with stress.

Acupuncturists Without Borders is supporting the free service.

About 120 people were treated in Bowness and a newly-opened centre in High River has seen 36 patients so far, project co-ordinator Vanessa Ebertz said.

"Essentially were having people come in to our clinic, theyre going to take a seat in the chair, were going to insert some needles into their ears five in each earand theyre going to chillax for about 30 minutes," she said.

"And then once thats all done, theyll get up and probably be in a quite different state than when they came in."

The stress relief from acupuncture can last up to a week, Ebertz said.
